HUD (Housing of Urban Development) provides rent subsidy to eligible low-income individuals and families in the form a Housing Choice Voucher.
HUD allocates the subsidies to the SHA who administers the program on their behalf.
In the HCV Program the rental subsidy is general based on the actual rent of the unit leased by the assisted family. For most families, the subsidy, paid to you directly from the SHA by direct deposit, is the difference between the unit rent and 30% of the family's monthly adjusted income.
